Blake Wilson
Landscape and figure painting have been my main focus since moving to Lethbridge. In addition to my painting, pottery has been a significant pursuit for many years. I feel that my physical involvement with clay and it’s intimate connection to the earth have nurtured my interest in landscape painting.
When I was kid, fishing and hunting excursions with my father provided ample opportunity to observe nature. I was never bored. Hours spend in a beat-up aluminum boat gave me plenty of time to observe and reflect on the nuances & complexities of nature. I loved observing changes of wind and light on both the water and the shoreline.
These childhood experiences seem to have influenced the work I’m doing now. Who knows what memories appear again and again in person’s life?
